MRI  (magnetic resonance image) is an expensive examination, often difficult to obtain, but which does not require intra articular injection. It provides invaluable information. The picture #1 shows a radiological image of the knee taken with MRI: a healthy medial meniscus is visible, outlined in red (anterior and posterior horn).

Image #2: radiological image of the knee  taken with  MRI: the arrow shows an injury to the posterior horn of the medial meniscus.
