Unicompartmental knee replacement

unicompartmental knee replacement replaces only one compartment, either medial or lateral. The osseous cut is tiny: it can be prescribed for patients who present a less advanced unilateral osteoarthritis with a healthy anterior cruciate ligament and without excessive angular deformation.

Images # 2 and 3: these surgical photographs show an osseous cut of the tibia: the use of a partial knee replacement allows a major osseous economy.

Photos # 4 and 5 - The surgical photographs show an external unicompartimental knee prosthesis : it replaces only the  lateral side and the osseous resection is tiny. The result is a less invasive prosthetic surgery, and only a small scar.
